Round as a Mooncake

with Cecilia Leung

Mooncakes in Chinese culture marks the beginning of fall. Known as the Mid-autumn Festival, to celebrate the first harvest which coincides with the full moon. A rich pastry, traditionally filled with lotus seed paste or a savory mix of nuts, seeds, smoked ham, and cured egg yolks, which mimic the golden round full moon, encased in a delicate, supple baked dough. We will make a modern version with seasonal ingredients sourced in Los Angeles to honor the fall equinox.

The Zoom link and formulas will be emailed to you the day before the class.
